If you are planning to buy a really cool fryer to add to your cooking arsenal for your kitchen, there are some specific details about fryers that you should consider before making your purchase. Deep fryers are great to have around because they increase your options when you want to entertain friends and family in your home.

Now you do not need a fryer as big as the ones they use in a fast food joint but one that fits your kitchen is just right for your needs. Deep fryers come in all sizes but are basically all the same. They hold vegetable oil in a deep well and the oil gets heated by either electricity, gas, or propane. All come with baskets to drain the food when it is finished cooking.

I have seen ranges that have deep fryers built right in but the most common deep fryer people buy for their homes are the ones that sit right on the counter. Of course, you will need to make sure you have the space to keep one on your counter or at least be able store it in a cupboard when it is not being used. Figure out where you want to put the fryer and take some measurements of the area so you have a good idea of what size fryer you can buy.

People like convenience and having a deep fryer in your home can be very convenient. Make sure though that you buy a fryer that won’t keep you in the kitchen any longer than necessary. What I mean is you do not want to be stuck in the kitchen draining and filtering oil and cleaning the fryer while your guests are having all the fun.

As always, when planning to make a significant purchase make sure you have the budget for it. This obviously should go without saying but some people, and you know who you are, can be rather compulsive and usually leap before they look. Depending on the price of the cool fryer you want, you may have to put your purchase off for a bit so you can save the money for it.

If I may offer a bit of advice, when you are ready to choose the fryer you want, check out the features of the fryer. Is it big enough for your needs? Does it have a temperature gauge with actual temperatures on it and not just low, medium and high? If you choose a fryer that has only low, medium and high settings, make sure you also buy a thermometer for your fryer to accurately measure the temperature of the oil otherwise the food you cook in the fryer may be undercooked or overcooked.

Some fryers can double as steamers, also. This feature gives you even more versatility in the kitchen. Steaming food is healthy and food that is steamed holds most of it’s nutrients because there is no water to boil them away. A really cool fryer can give you more options in the kitchen and make your life easier.
